Frequently Asked Questions

What factor sources are included?

EPA eGRID 2023 for US subregions, IEA 2023 for country-level international grids, UK DEFRA 2024 for the UK, and EEA 2023 for European Economic Area countries. Each row includes source attribution, vintage, and method.

Is this the same dataset OffGridFlow uses?

Yes. These are the public factors OffGridFlow seeds into its calculation engine for Scope 2 location-based calculations. Additional factor packs (Scope 1 fuels, Scope 3 categories) are documented in the methodology library.

Can I use this for my own spreadsheet-based carbon reporting?

Yes. The CSV is in a standard format with factor_id, region, unit, value, source, and vintage columns. Use it as a starting point. Be aware that spreadsheet-based reporting does not produce an immutable ledger or approval trail — essential for assurance.

How often is the library updated?

Annually, as EPA eGRID, IEA, DEFRA, and EEA publish new vintages. The OffGridFlow methodology version (currently v2026.1.0) tracks which factor vintages are active.
